An Australian furry convention called MiDFur has attracted a decent amount of news coverage at their recent event, including TV and radio appearances as well as a number of print and online articles, some of which featured their guest of honour, Stan Sakai.
Although there is no official count, there were several attendees who reported having found about furry and the convention via the above media coverage.
MiDFur, an Australian furry convention happening in Melbourne from December 2nd to 5th, 2010, has released it's second video for the year. The Journey To MiDFur shows off the new venue, Rydges On Swanston, as well as explaining some of the many features of the convention including the pool deck, large socialising areas and guests of honour, Big Blue Fox and Stan Sakai.
MiDFur has announced their move from being a not-for-profit organisation to a partnership. The move was well considered and won't impact the running of MiDFur. Should MiDFur make a profit then 100% of the funds go back into the convention. Meanwhile if there's a loss then the members of the partnership will personally cover the debt.

As well as being at a newer, shinier venue, the Guests of Honour have been revealed as being Stan Sakai (artist and writer of Usagi Yojimbo) and Big Blue Fox (German furry, filmmaker, DJ and Eurofurence staffer).
Further details have been announced on the website, but the full website and the opening of registrations won't happen until Monday, March 15th, 2010.
